The basic concept of SSH is that members purchase gift certificates (Scrip) through Shir Hadash and we earn a percentage of that purchase
1. What does it cost ME to take advantage of this?
NOTHING! You pay $25 for a $25 gift certificate and you receive $25 in product when you use it.
2. How does the shul make money on this?
We get the scrip at a discounted rate – so for example, we may buy $100 in scrip for $92.
3. How much money will the shul make on my purchase?
The percentage that the shul makes varies by vendor. Check the list on the website for the percentages.
4. Ok, but how much can the shul really make in a year?
In 2006 we made close to $4000. This year (July to July) we are close to $6000. With more member participation, we can easily earn close to $7000 next year.
5. What stores are available?
There are over 175 different stores, restaurants & services on the list. The most popular are Jewel, Sunset, Whole Foods and Starbucks. We also have Amazon.com, Lettuce Entertain You, Land’s End, American Airlines, Marriott Hotels, Home Depot, Bonefish Grill. Consider using scrip to pay for your simcha!

7. How do I pay for the scrip?
We prefer that you pay by check, written to Shir Hadash when you receive your scrip. We can accept payment by credit card, but we do add a 2% charge to cover the costs to the shul. For larger purchases we can often waive the fee.

9. Ok, ok, you sold me. Now what?
Place an order using the handy-dandy online system, or check print off the order form and fax or mail it in. (Fax to 847-559-9370)
10. How else can I help?
Volunteer to man the Sunday morning table, deliver scrip to the members who live in your town, sell scrip at a shul event or ask your family and co-workers to buy scrip.
