The Madrikhim Program Madrikhim are high school students who serve as teachers’ assistants in our religious school. They act as role models, lead small-group activities, assist individual students, and help the teachers with organizational details and classroom management. The teenagers who work in our classrooms are an important part of our school culture. Inservice meetings, lead by Education Director Emily Ascher, focus on problem solving, leadership training, child development, and classroom management. High school students learn valuable lessons about responsibility, working in a school setting, and getting along with supervisors, peers, and children—all in the religious school environment. Madrikhim are the religious school teachers of the future. Some of them will go off to college with letters of recommendation from the rabbi and education director which will open doors to working in synagogue schools during their college years and beyond.
