Kita Dalet (Fourth Grade)

Judaic Studies Goals -

The focus of the 4th grade class will be the study of .  History, culture, geography and language will be studied.  The connection between Eretz Yisrael (the land of Israel) and American Jews will be explored.

 

Judaic Studies Goals - Values

Recognizing that each student is on his/her own path to becoming a mensch, the values curriculum is designed to facilitate that process.

 

Holidays will be studied in relationship to how they are celebrated in . As always, art, music, dance, drama, literature, and film will be incorporated into all units of study.

 

Hebrew Goals

Children will receive one hour of Hebrew instruction.  The emphasis is on reading fluency, recognition of key words, and reading and understanding the meaning of the prayers.  Some conversational Hebrew will be included.  The following prayers, blessings and songs will be studied:

  • Bar’chu
  • Ma’ariv Aravim (partial)
  • Yotzer Or
  • Sh’ma
  • V’ahavta
  • Mi Chamocha
  • Kiddush
  • Shabbat Blessings:  candles, wine, bread
  • Holiday Blessings:  Pesach
  • Hatikvah (Israeli national anthem)

Special Program:  An Experiential Tour of Eretz Yisrael – Using a 380 square foot inflated map of , children will “travel” to the major cities of the State of Israel.
