Kita Gimel (Third Grade)

Judaic Studies Goals

The third grade year emphasizes the child’s developing need to explore his/her spirituality and to begin to understand the story of the Jewish people as presented in the Bible.  Questions and discussions about God will be encouraged.  As always, art, music, dance, drama, literature, and film will be incorporated into the study.  The holidays will be studied with an emphasis on their history.

Hebrew Goals

All children will receive one hour of Hebrew instruction.  The emphasis is on letter and vowel recognition and beginning reading fluency.  The following blessings and prayers will be taught:

  • Shehecheyanu
  • Sh’ma
  • Bar’chu
  • Candle Lighting
  • Chanukah Blessings
  • Blessings for foods and drink
  • Ma Nishtanah (Oral)
