Kita Bet (Second Grade)

Judaic Studies Goals

Children will continue to develop a positive Jewish identity and a basic understanding of Judaism through exposure to and study of Jewish culture, rituals, stories, and values.  Study will incorporate literature, music, art, dance, cooking, and drama.  The following areas of study will be emphasized:

  • Holidays
  • Values
  • Stories from the Torah

 

Hebrew Goals

Children will continue to identify, decode, and print the Hebrew alphabet.  They will learn the Hebrew vowels, and begin to blend letters and vowels.  Children will review and continue to recite all the prayers and blessings learned in kindergarten and first grade.  

 

The following units of Modern Hebrew vocabulary will be studied through songs, games, and other hands-on activities:

  • Home and Family
  • Numbers, Colors
  • Child’s Hebrew Name
  • Body Parts
  • Food
  • Holiday Language
  • Everyday School Vocabulary (Pencil, Desk, Paper, etc.)
